55th Reunion - 2022

Saturday, October 15, 2022 -
Our reunion returned to the theme of our graduation "All the World's A Stage" and was held at the Verandah Room at the York Expo Center (Fair Grounds) on October 15, 2022.   We thought this was a great place to have our reunion since we all graduated from the grandstand stage at the fairgrounds.  Invitations were sent out with the following Shakespeare quote:  "To be or not to be...(present)...that is the question!"  A total of 190 people signed up but we actually had 161 people in attendance inclucing 99 classmates.  The doors opened at 4:00 pm and the fun continued until 10 pm.  Music was provided by Twistin Postman.  Michael Muldrow, current York City Police Commissioner, gave a rousing tribute to our class and the video is posted on YouTube.  His mother Linda Turner is a classmate.  A York HIgh graduate, Yomaicol Pena, who graduated from York College in May 2022 was our scholarship recipient and spoke to those in attendance about his York HIgh experience and how much the scholarship meant to him.  He is starting his Engineering career at American Hydro and hopes to one day work for Space X or NASA!  Go York HIgh Grads!!!  Everyone had lots of chances to win one of the 37 raffle baskets with donations from local vendors or one of 40 door prize baskets!  Each basket had a quote from Shakespeare.  Tickets were sold for the raffle baskets and names were pulled for the door prizes.  A special 1967 framed art piece was donated by a classmate and won by Donna March Zeller.  Posters were placed at the entrance including our "In Memory" board. that now has 124 classmates listed.  Everyone had an option of a chicken dinner or pulled beef sandwich dinner provided by Big Bob's BBQ.  Coffee and tea was provided and a cash bar was available. Each table was decorated with a bottle of wine and two wine glasses and won by the people who had a birthday closest to the date.  A special label was on each bottle with our theme.  A presentation that represented all of our past reunions was displayed on a large screen while the music to "The Time Warp" was played and some of the more daring classmates attempted to dance to it!  It really was a fun event where everyone had the opportunity to reconnect and have a great time.  The reunion committee worked hard for this successful event.  We are all looking forward to our next event - Our 75th Birthday Celebration in 2024!  Stay tuned...

50th Reunion - 2017

Saturday, October 8, 2017 – The reunion was held at the Country Club of York at 1400 Country Club Road, York, PA.  The doors opened at 6 pm and 146 classmates and 86 guests enjoyed a wonderful evening of renewed friendships and fun.  “A Return to Days of Wine and Roses” was taken from our Senior Class Prom theme.  All classmates in attendance received a special wine glass engraved with York High Class of 1967  50th Reunion.

During the first hour as classmates arrived, a Powerpoint presentation was running, showing memories from all of the elementary schools in York City; the three junior high schools (Phineas Davis, Edgar Fahs Smith, Hannah Penn); a recap of some of our activities during high school; and memories from each one of our past reunions, finished the presentation.  It was fun trying to identify classmates from photos of our very early school years!

We had a photographer taking photos throughout the night and will be making a DVD that can be purchased for $10 from Louis C. McKinney.  If you are interested in purchasing a copy when it is ready, please use the  “Contact Us”  button in this website and submit your email address.  A form and information will be sent to you.

We had a delicious meal of salad, broiled seafood (mussels, scallops, shrimp and salmon), carved London broil with sauce, chicken Milanese with lemon butter, fresh vegetables.  After filling our plates with these wonderful choices they brought out desserts that were spectacular and topped them with vanilla ice cream!  Beverages included coffee, hot tea, iced tea and water along with a cash bar.

We welcomed our special guest, Mr. Ralph McGregor who was married to our Class Advisor Mrs. Ada McGregor.  She always attended our past reunions and loved being a special part of the York High Class of 1967.  She passed on in February and we miss her.  We were honored that her husband wanted to be with us to represent her at our special event.

A memory board displayed the photos and names of our classmates who are no longer with us.  The list of 89 names can be found on this website.

The DJ – “Twistin’ Postman” played music for us and everyone had a great time dancing and remembering songs from our past.

As alumni, our class decided that we want to present a onetime scholarship to a graduating senior from York High who has been accepted into college.  The gift will be presented at the awards ceremony at the end of the school year.  A committee is currently working on the criteria and is accepting donations.  Consider a symbolic donation of $6.70 or $19.67 or any other amount you wish to send.  Donations will be accepted until Friday, December 1, 2017.  For information of where to send, please use the “Contact Us” button on this website and include your email address.  Our class is honored to be able to provide a much needed scholarship to a deserving student.

We were happy to see so many classmates that were not at past reunions.  For some it has been 50 years since we were together.  Name tags with photos from high school were a big help in identifying our classmates.  After exchanging contact information and lots of hugs the evening was over at 11 p.m.

This was deemed our last big reunion bash…but we have plans for the future!  In two years – 2019 – we will be celebrating our 70th birthdays – another significant milestone in our lives.  Plans for our “Milestone Birthday Party” will begin in 2018 and information will be provided closer to the time.  Please check back with this website and also our Facebook page ‘York High Class of 1967’.

To all our classmates:  We wish you good health and happiness and look forward to seeing you soon!

45th Reunion - 2012
Friday, August 10th - An informal gathering took place at the Holiday Inn where classmates reunited with each other and reminisced about our days at York High and caught up on our activities and lives today.  It was great to see each other after many years!

Saturday, August 11th - The reunion was held at the Holiday Inn Conference Center (Route 74 & US 30) - 2000 Loucks Road, York, PA 17408 from 6:00 pm to 12 midnight.  The evening consisted of a cash bar; social hour starting at 6:00 p.m.; buffet dinner at 7:00 p.m.and DJ Mike Love played music from our high school days from 8:00-11:00 p.m.

The buffet consisted of soup of the day, garden salad, turkey and stuffing, London broil with mushroom wine sauce, whipped potatoes, green beans almondine, rolls, butter, ice tea, soda, coffee, apple pie, peanut butter pie and cheesecake with cherries.

Following dinner a Powerpoint presentation was shown called "Memories".  It was fun to see images and photos of things we enjoying doing during our growing up years...the 50s and 60s.  Remember Hoola Hoops, Jacks, Roy Rogers and Trigger?  How about Erector Sets, Tiny Tears Dolls and Hopscotch?  We watched TV and saw Howdy Doody, The Lone Ranger, I Love Lucy and in the very early 60s saw the first color pictures on TV.  Remember the pink and black tiled bathrooms, bell bottom pants, short skirts and teased hair?  Oh yes...it certainly brought back memories!

Dorothy King put together a small trivia quiz to see if we really could remember some important things from way back when we were in school.  We had several classmates who did very well...and with their answers helped the rest of us to "remember" too.

It was an evening of fun and reuniting with friends we hadn't seen for five or more years!  No one seemed to believe it had been 45 years (already)...since we graduated from the stage in front of the grandstand at the York Fairgrounds in 1967.  Wow...that was a long time ago!

Oh my...our 50th is coming up in 2017.

40th Reunion - 2007
Friday August 17th at 7pm - About 50 of our classmates and guests gathered at the "new front entrance" of York High to tour the school.  What a different place it has become since we were there!  Wow...there wasn't too much that seemed familiar.  The guides were great and very helpful trying to tell us what "used" to be in some of the rooms and hallways as we tried to acclimate ourselves to the surroundings.  The cafeteria was about the only thing that really didn't change much...but we learned that it too was going to be renovated soon.  Even though much of the building didn't seem the same, we all enjoyed the renewal of friendships and the opportunity to walk the halls of York High another time.

Saturday August 18th from 6pm to Midnight - Heritage Hills Resort

The  doors opened at 6pm and the fun began!  We had approximately 170 people...with 99 of those being classmates.  What a great turnout!  It was fun seeing everyone and with the name tags having photos of the classmates from our yearbook made it very helpful to identify each other!  What a difference 40 years had made.  For some recognition was easy but for many it took a second look to realize who was there.  We were honored that our class advisor Mrs. Ada McGregor and her husband were able to attend.

The room was decorated beautifully and the Alumni Band was on hand to start us off with a lot of music that was very familiar.  "Old York High" resonated throughout the room!  DJ Mike Love provided the music for the rest of the evening and it was nice to hear and dance to popular songs from the 60s.  It was a nice stroll down memory lane.

A photographer was on hand to take portraits of anyone who wanted to be included in a special photo booklet.  A photo of the class was taken and available for purchase.  What a nice keepsake and rememberance.

A wonderful buffet dinner was served at 7pm...and from all the comments it was delicious!  What could be better than renewing friendships and food!

A class trivia game had everyone putting on their thinking caps...and several classmates were awarded prizes for getting many of them right!  Good memories!  What fun trying to remember things and events from forty years ago!

A tribute to our class was created on a DVD and given to each class member in attendance.  It included world events from 1967, what things cost, memories of high school, sports, music, drama, fundraisers, homecoming, prom, graduation, places around York, all of our past reunions, a memorial to those no longer with us, and finally what York High looks like today.  It was a joy putting the video together this past year and it is a wonderful keepsake for our class.  It was a hit!  A few copies are still available...so if you are interested send an e-mail via the link on this website for details.

A special thanks to the committee members for all the hard work in putting this special event together.  Donna Mann Rawhouser, Committee Chair; Stephanie Brindle Folk, Tom Folk, Barbara Gross Grove, Marlin Grove, Greg Hensel, Carol Hill-Evans, Rosemarie Sunday Inners, Dorothy King, Carolyn Miller Moyer, Phil Reck, Tony Rizzuto, Jackie Helzer Sallade, Barb Sleeger and Dave Welber.

We look forward to our 45th...in 2012.
